Best Special Effects in Graphics Movies | Tamil Movies

Cinema can create something which is non-existent. Cinema is something that can project an imaginary world as real. The watching experience is enhanced by VFX, i.e. Computer graphics. Let's look at the Indian movies with Top Notch CG work. Let's look at how it was done. in detail.

 let’s see the differences between VFX & SFX.

VFX meansVisual effects. VFX is the creation of any on screen imaginary world or character that does not physically exist, using computer graphics in post-production. Special effects are something like the sound, object, person that is being created during the shooting by an animatronics.

 Let’s look at the best VFX, SFX techniques used in Indian cinema in the last decade. The first movie that we have on this list is Padmavat. This Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial had Deepika Padukone and many others in major roles, Most of action sequences and the palace of Padmavat were created using VFX.

The movie is a compilation of grandeur sets and VFX. Compositing & chromo technology are the two major techniques used in this movie. We could find the precision of VFX in a particular song of the film.

They initially shot the song ‘Ghoomar’ with Deepika revealing her hip. But when people voiced against the portrayal of Queen Padmavat as a queen who wore a revealing Saree. They recreated a dress using CGI after shooting and managed to mask the revealed skin in that particular song.

 Chennai Express:

The movie had stars like Shah rukh khan, Deepika Padukone and Satyaraj You might be wondering where they have used graphics in this Bollywood romcom movie The train sequences, The shots inside the train, The top angle shots of the train, The village sequences... All of this was shot inside a studio with green matte. They have created breathtaking vfx sequences almost 8 years ago. They have even changed the backgrounds of many actual scenes using extra improvement techniques.

 The dense forest sequences around the train, In this particular scene, they have created this hut using vfx, A pond was also created using graphics in a song sequence There are many more examples in this film. It’s surprising that, the train sequences, village, water falls... were shot inside a studio using green matte in Mumbai.

Sultan:

This movie has lots of Wrestling, kickboxing and action sequences. We could say it’s a mix of reel and real. In the major action sequences of the film, They have filled people on the one side of the set, and filled the other sides using 360 degree CGI technique. They shot the action sequences using green matte on the side filled with people, The training sequences were shot using green matte And recreated the city in the background using CGI; We would not have noticed it because of the flow of the story. There were many such CGI sequences in Sultan.

Bahubali:

We could say that this movie is a VFX Marvel. The VFX techniques used in the movie, and they way it was captured on screen was special. The sequence where Balvaaldevan fights with the ox, was shot with a dummy ox in the green matte, and was matched as real Ox in Post Production. A similar technique was used in Hollywood's Jungle Book

We saw another version of the same in Bahubali. The war sequences were shot behind a green screen in the open ground, The mountain in the background was added in the post production which is astonishing. The scenes of, Rajmatha Sivagami walking in the palace, The scene where she escapes to the forest with the baby, The scene in which she carries the baby in the flood, was shot using green matte inside the studio. We can talk a lot about the CGI work of ‘Bahubali’.

Zero:

Though the movie is a commercial failure. The movie had the finest VFX works in portraying the dwarf Shah Rukh khan, We can call it as a Masterpiece of VFX for that reason alone Every shot involving dwarf Shah Rukh was shot 5 times.

First, They have shot scenes of Shahrukh khan with his co actors in his actual height, To portray him as dwarf, a pit was dug on the floor and scenes were shot separately. Then separate sequences of Shah Rukh's co-stars were shot to capture their reactions.

Then the sequences with background artists were shot separately. Then, finally there were sequences shot with Shah Rukh alone 5 separate shots have merged as one during the dwarf sequences. Also for all the sequences of Shah Rukh Khan, they had to keep the camera angles to his height. To project dwarf Shah rukh khan, they managed to find a person with similar height for the movie, He was made to wear matching costumes and sequences were shot. Then he was completely removed from the footage. and the sequences were shot to match Shah Rukh's range. First shot was normal. It was the pre-visualization. with Ashish.

The fact that Kamal had done this years ago in ‘Aboorva Sagodharargal’ without much technology is cinema magic.

Enthiran:

Shankar who had earlier used graphics in the song sequences had used the graphics to the fullest in the movie Jeans.

Masking technique was used for the double action sequences. As the technology evolved, motion capture & green matte was used to shoot many scenes in this movie.

In the sequel 2.O, the mobile flying scenes; The fight sequences of Robot and Pakshiraaja; inside a stadium. The intro scenes of Pakshiraaja were also shot using similar techniques

 The techniques used in earlier films have been enhanced in 2.0. We might have missed some movies with best CGI like Hrithik Roshan’s ‘Krissh’;

Romcom movie Cocktail,(Hindi) Surya’s twin double character in ‘Matraan’ In movie 24, not only the double action sequences, but also The accident scene;

 The Napier bridge scene in the movie ‘Theri’; These films also make it to the list of films with great CGI blurring the line between reel and real. There have been lot of improvements with regard to CGI in Tamil films over the last decade.
